After 20 years away Akira Kazama, the leather biker brawler from Rival Schools: United by Fate and Dreamcast gem Project Justice, is back! Scheduled for release sometime this Summer, Akira is a welcome addition to Street Fighter V's roster, recalling a time when Capcom were battering out hit after hit in fight-focused arcades. By now a long dormant property, Rival Schools is up there with Power Stone and Darkstalkers as a series begging for a modern follow up.

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition - UNITED BY FATE
Since Street Fighter VI is much further off than we suspected, Capcom have another season pass up their sleeve for Street Fighter V. Given that one of the PS5's big selling points is backwards compatibility, we might not even get a next-gen specific SKU of Capcom's divisive sequel at this rate. Still, at least the Osaka dev has finally remembered their wonderful Rival Schools series, drafting schoolgirl on a motorcycle Akira Kazama for V's forthcoming DLC.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection / Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition - NEXT ON
Released just in time to completely miss the actual 30th birthday of the original Street Fighter's debut, Capom's Street Fighter Anniversary Collection brings together the obstinate 1987 arcade cabinet as well as eleven of its sequels, including series best installments like Street Fighter II' Turbo: Hyper Fighting and Street Fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future.
Capcom and curator devs Digital Eclipse have, thankfully, resisted the urge to repaint and reorganise these classics, delivering them in a package not unlike Hamster's wonderful Arcade Archives series. The only thing holding this suite back from being absolutely perfect is the omission of the various Alpha series revisions, like Zero 2 Dash or Zero 3 Double Upper. Also headed our way in 2018 is Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, a rebalanced and expanded re-issue designed to banish the collective memory of the title's original, criminally undernourished 2016 release.

SDCC Nostalgia Boner 2 - Street Fighter V
Ken Masters is back! America's second-favourite son makes his Street Fighter V debut rocking a haircut that makes him look like he's into climbing and trail mix. Ken's special moves have been rethought too, with Masters apparently taking pointers from Street Fighter III's Sean and SNK's Rugal Bernstein.

E3 2015 - CANNON SPIKE
Looks like someone working on Street Fighter V's roster is a fan of Capcom and Psikyo's forgotten Commando update Cannon Spike. First they announce Nash, who admittedly was a strong presence in the Street Fighter Alpha series, now Capcom's second-lady Cammy turns up covered in gunslings and bandoliers, an outfit straight out of the Dreamcast multi-directional shooter.

V-TRIGGER
A trailer and an impressions video from VideoGamerTV for Street Fighter V. As the guys mention in their discussion, it looks like Yoshinori Ono and his teams are trying to give the new game some of Street Fighter III: Third Strike's reversal magic. Although only a handful of characters are either shown or discussed, it looks like the new V-Trigger gauge will allow certain characters to absorb or even repel fireballs, much like a buffed version of the III series' parry system.

VICTORY
After six years of updates and tweaking, we're finally getting another numbered Street Fighter game. Somewhere in this corporate lifestyle reel is a quick glimpse of Ryu and Chun-Li battling it out in Street Fighter V. At the very least a timed exclusive on Sony's console, which explains Ryu driving around in a cab in those release day PS4 adverts, SFV looks like it's going for a less cartoony design approach. There are no close-ups of howling faces during super move wind-ups and characters are lithe and lined compared to their Street Fighter IV drafts.
