May 1939's
Detective Comics #27 saw the first appearance of Bob Kane and Bill Finger's
Batman. Drawing on literary adventurers such as
Sherlock Holmes and
The Shadow, Kane and Finger devised a potent cocktail of urban sleuthing and
mysterio brutality that has seen the character twist and turn through countless tweaks and
reimaginings. For this sketch scratch I hoped to evoke lo-
fi avenging, a young Batman still puzzling out his kit and methods.

Year One!
